As it happened with the cold drop ‘DANA’ last September, the ‘Gloria’ temporal is also affecting to the Salinas y Arenales Regional Park of San Pedro del Pinatar and the actions that the LIFE Salinas Project develops. In December, the installation of the perimeter fence that protects the dunes and plantations that took place last Saturday, January 18, was completed. Due to the impact of the waves, part of the fence has fallen and sea water has reached the dunes.
Part of the actions of this Project are aimed at combating the scourge of storms that attack with more force each year, and in a little over a year since LIFE Salinas began, we have been able to verify that the actions in the Regional Park are very necessary.
The fencing repair by the Asociación de Naturalistas del Sureste (ANSE) and Salinera Española will begin once the storm ends, taking new prevention measures if required.
This fence is installed in the first 750 meters of La Llana Beach, covering just over 2 hectares, and it has the objective of recovering and protecting the dunes that are located between the beach and the salt ponds.
The works of adaptation of saline motes that began on January 13 were suspended since Monday and will be resumed as soon as possible.
