The LIFE Salinas Project environmental education campaign for primary schools, organised by the Dirección General del Medio Natural of the Consejería de Agua, Agricultura, Ganadería, Pesca y Medio Ambiente, began on Thrusday 23rd Septemeber.
The campaign is specifically aimed at PRIMARY SCHOOLS, including both talks and workshops within the school itself, as well as guided tours throughout the Regional Park Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar. The campaign is aimed at nearby municipalities such as San Pedro del Pinatar, Los Alcázares, San Javier, Torre Pacheco and Cartagena.
During the talks, the students will learn about the biodiversity of the Regional Park, it’s history of salt production, the incredible properties of salt, how climate change is affecting the protected area and about the various actions that are carried out by the Project. Workshops with games and videos will also take place, adapted to the students’ age group. The duration of the talk and workshop is approximately 2 hours long.
To complete this experience, guided tours of the Regional Park are also offered. There are 2 types of tour: a visit to the beaches of La Torre Derribada and La Llana and a visit to the salt ponds and pine forest of Coterrilo. These guided tours last approximately 3 hours. In addition to being free of charge, a grant of 60 euros is offered to cover the cost of transport between the educational centre and the Regional Park.
This education campaign for primary schools will run from September 2021 till June 2022, coinciding with the school term and completely FREE of charge.
