Between 13th-17th November 2019, the XXIV Spanish and VII Iberian Ornithological Congress will take place in Cadiz and LIFE-Salinas Project will be there. Colleagues from the University of Murcia and the Association of Southeast Naturalists (ANSE) will be introducing the paper: “Population dynamics of the wintering waterbird community in the Mar Menor wetlands (Region of Murcia, 1972-2018)”, along with the results of the results of waterbird censuses from 1972 to 2018. This monitoring has been carried out in the wetlands of the Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatar, Salinas de Marchamalo, Encañizadas and Laguna del Mar Menor, analyzing the trends and evolution of total bird populations. In the specific case of Las Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatar, it has been observed a global increase in wintering populations while in Las Encañizadas the endangered species have declined.
Every two years, this Spanish Ornithological Congress joins Science, Conservation and Birds presenting significant research results and projects of great ornithological interest.
