Coastal dunes have an important function in the Regional Park as they provide a natural protection barrier against storm events, support priority conservation habitats 1510* and 2250* and, besides, are a sand reservoir for the beach.
In order to restrain the erosive processes, a network of sand collecting palisades will be installed, at first, experimentally. They work as a brake for the sand that is transported by the wind within action C.3. “Stabilisation and reinforcement of the dune ecosystem of La Llana beach”, considered in the LIFE-Salinas Project.
In addition, these sand captors will be used to remove the track created by the path of people in the area.
