Construction resumes at the Coterillo pond

After a brief stop for two months in order to collect salt, Salinera Española is resuming work on the Coterillo pond. The objectives are to provide a good input and output flow of water aiding in the recovery of the population of the fartet, the restoration of the ponds depth and the adaptation of motes and islands to provide better conditions for the reproduction of aquatic birds.

In order to improve the ponds hydraulic circulation and connect it to the saline circuit a water output pipe is being installed which runs through the Coterillo pond car park and the Salinera Española facilities. Following the installation of the pipe, the pond will be temporarily dried in order to close and reinforce the interior mote, allowing the water to flow throughout the entire canal with the correct circulation. Finally, the interior islands will be rebuilt, recovering and improving important habitats for the reproduction of aquatic birds.
