Last Thursday, more than 40 secondary-school students took part in a volunteer activity to remove invasive exotic species such as Carpobrotus edulis, also known as “Hottentot-fig” or “Highway ice plant”. The invasive exotic plants are one of the main causes of biodiversity loss all over the world; in particular this one, which is found in virtually all coastal areas, as it prevents the rooting of native species. For this reason it is essential to eliminate the plants before the planting season.
From LIFE Salinas we thank you very much for your participation. We are still working!
